What do you do when you’re on the eve of a global pandemic and the bride is a nurse? If you’re like couple Connor and Raquel, you pass out some face masks, stock up on hand sanitizer, and throw one heck of a party.

Connor and Raquel’s Pi Day wedding (3/14) was the last event for Maryland’s DJ before the pandemic put a temporary halt on group celebrations. Since the bride is an old friend of DJ Jordan, it thrilled us that the wedding could take place before the shutdown.

Connor and Raquel were married at The Suburban Club in Pikesville, Maryland. The festivities were captured by the brilliant photographer Marc Summerfield at Guill Photo

The night started out with a cocktail hour accompanied by classic tunes by Nat King Cole and Nina Simone. Then it was off to sign the Ketubah — the Jewish marriage contract. Once the guests had warmed up with a drink or two, the ceremony began in the Suburban Club’s sunroom.

The bridal party entered to Love Me for Real by Omar Adam (אוהבת אותי אמיתי). And the bride herself entered to a piano cover of Bereishit Olam by Shlomi Shabat. After a beautiful ceremony, there was nothing standing between the guests and the party!

The bride and groom chose the beats of Take It by Dom Dolla for their introduction to the ballroom. Then they went straight into their first dance to Always Remember Us This Way by Lady Gaga (from A Star is Born).

After a welcome toast by the bride’s parents and a blessing by Raquel’s grandfather, it was time to eat!

Raquel and Connor chose to “front load” all the activities at their reception, so they wouldn’t have to interrupt the dance floor for any reason. So after Raquel and her father danced to Butterfly Kisses, it was right into the horah and cake cutting — and then plenty of dancing!

This Baltimore wedding took place before social distancing measures were put into effect, so it could still go on. But with Raquel working on the front lines as a nurse, she still wanted to take some precautions. So Pi Day face masks were provided by this fun-loving couple.

And since the bride is such an old friend, she got to take a little spin behind the DJ booth!

We were so happy to be part of Connor and Raquel’s Baltimore wedding at The Suburban Club. We know these two are going to have a beautiful life together, and we wish them all the best!
