A late summer wedding on the Chesapeake Bay never disappoints. But the weather really seemed to sit up and take notice at Caroline and Todd’s party on September 10th. It was a warm, sunny day that led into a mild, breezy evening. And it’s a good thing, too, because this wedding was 100% outdoors.
The wedding venue was Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa & Marina in Cambridge, MD. A big beautiful hotel, complete with golf course, spa, pool, and more? Sounds like a pretty sweet place to spend a weekend.
The ceremony took place out on the Manor Lawn, with views of the Chesapeake Bay serving as the background. DJ Jordan set the vibe with string covers while the guests arrived and got seated. When it was time for the wedding party and the bride to make their entrances, he queued up Pachelbel’s Canon in D—a wedding classic. Caroline and Todd lit a unity candle during the ceremony, accompanied by Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole. And after their first smooch, they were led off into wedded bliss by Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours.
For cocktail hour, the guests didn’t have far to go! The drinks were poured right there on the lawn, just behind the ceremony site. For music, they had a live saxophonist, which was such a fun choice! And when it was time for the ceremony, there still wasn’t far to go. DJ Jordan said that he doesn’t often see a dance floor that’s completely outside, but this one was.
The reception was kicked off with a definite EDM vibe. DJ Jordan welcomed the members of the wedding party to Levels by Avicii. Then Caroline and Todd were introduced for the first time as a married couple to the A-Trak remix of Heads Will Roll by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
For their first dance, they chose country favorite Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton. Then Caroline and her father danced to Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel) by Billy Joel, and Todd and his mom danced to Thought You Should Know by Morgan Wallen.
The crowd danced the night away under the soft glow of the hanging bistro lights. In between the jams, guests snuck off to the touchless photo booth to take pictures that they could share on their social media accounts. A photo booth creates instant digital souvenirs that wedding and party guests love!
A couple of wedding traditions also made their way into the night’s festivities. The ladies got their elbows out for the bouquet toss to Wannabe by the Spice Girls. And during the anniversary dance, the group celebrated long-lasting love to You Make it Easy by Jason Aldean.
For their final song, Caroline and Todd had a private dance just for two to Boyfriend by Hardy. Meanwhile, their coordinator handed out the sparklers so the happy couple could end the night under a shower of glittering light. It was a perfect summer night, and a beautiful start to a long and happy marriage!
