Some winery venues play up the old-world vineyard vibe, with lots of distressed wood, old stone, and natural scenery. But Washington DC’s District Winery goes the opposite direction with a modern take on the urban wine experience. With simple clean lines and understated elegance, this space is chic and sophisticated.
Located just blocks away from the capitol building and the National Mall, this stunning Washington DC wedding venue on the banks of the Anacostia River will have your guests ooh-ing and aah-ing all night long.
Cue the Photographer!
We’re not the only ones who love a District Winery wedding. The husband and wife photography team at Kemp Collective, Jonathan and Erin, have only good things to say about this unique wedding venue.
“District Winery is one of the most romantic places to get married in the city. The indoor space is unique with its geometric wood detailing, giving your wedding a timeless backdrop. DW is right on the water, so you have a gorgeous spot for portraits. There is also a lovely wrap-around rooftop terrace complete with fire pits to give your reception a cozy feel. And of course, let’s not forget a lot of wine to be had while you party the night away!”
We love the photos that this duo takes. They suffuse every image with a warm, romantic glow. We don’t know how they do that, but it looks amazing.
About District Winery
There are three spaces to choose from for a District Winery wedding. The main indoor space has modern, minimalist appeal with black walls and a black slatted ceiling. But the room is warmed up with a light wood floor and natural wood beams. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the room with natural light during the day, and provide city views at night.
Couple Christine and Brad added a minimalist wedding arch decorated with sprays of roses to silhouette their ceremony against the backdrop of the river. (For more details about Christine and Brad’s District Winery wedding, click here!)
For cocktail hour, guests can visit the mezzanine level overlooking the barrel room below. There’s also an outdoor terrace where couples can hold their ceremony or mingle for cocktails in nice weather. Fire pits keep the space cozy on cool evenings.
Located right on the river in the Navy Yard, there are ample opportunities for waterfront photos. Couple Sara and Jackson were taking advantage of the space when they met an unexpected visitor going for his daily walk…
With in-house catering, high-end walnut furniture, marble-topped bars, and some tabletop decor all right there at the venue, a District Winery wedding is not only gorgeous — it’s convenient. Service is available either family-style or plated, overseen by Executive Chef Benjamin Lambert. Add signature cocktails or a raw bar to further personalize your reception.
