The team at Maryland’s DJ is growing! More DJs means more weddings on our schedule…and that means a larger team of wedding-obsessed support staff to make it all happen.
Case in point: Jenn Armand.
Jenn is originally from Philadelphia, but she’s been in Washington, DC for more than a decade. After an education in graphic design, she made her way to the event industry, where she’s dabbled in a bit of everything over the past 15 years. She’s been a photographer, a DJ, a wedding planner, and most recently, an event designer and marketer, where she helped to build immersive experiences for a wide variety of clients both nationally and internationally.
(There was also a time when she worked as a hair model. That’s not particularly relevant, but just something you should know.)
So how did this jill-of-all-trades get connected with Maryland’s DJ? The wedding industry is close-knit, so she met our founder Jordan Solender over 10 years ago when she was working as a wedding planner. They’ve been friends ever since! And when it was time to choose her own wedding DJ, that was easy—it had to be Jordan.
With her years of experience, Jenn was a shoo-in for helping us out at Maryland’s DJ. As a Sales Consultant, she helps to connect couples to their perfect wedding DJ for a customized experience. She says, “I really listen to what the couple is looking for in their music preference and match them to our DJs based on personality.”
Her favorite thing about working with the Maryland’s DJ team? “I get to help people throw incredible events. The dance floor is almost the most important part of any event.” Of course, even though it’s wildly rewarding, there are challenges. “Planning events is not all sunshine and roses,” she says. “No one sees us sweating and starving behind the scenes.”
But to pull off the perfect wedding, it’s worth it.
During the pandemic, Jenn and her husband purchased a house on the Chesapeake Bay (just down the beach from where they got married, at Haven Harbor Inn & Marina!) where they can garden and spend time on the water. And when she’s not on the job or wrist-deep in the dirt, Jenn is indulging her other passion—food. She loves to cook and has an Instagram where she shares recipes and natural wine recommendations. Check it out!
Jenn was kind enough to share some of her thoughts about weddings with us, which you’ll find below!
Responses are lightly edited for clarity.
What’s your favorite thing about weddings?
Specifically in this order…the dance floor, the food, and the bar! Those three things will make any wedding memorable.
If you were getting married this weekend, what would your first dance song be?
Free Fallin’ by John Mayer…can I request that he is live? (This was the second choice for my first dance with my husband at my wedding.)
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen at a wedding?
My friend had a traditional Chinese lion dance at her wedding! The Chinese lion dance is performed at weddings to bless the couple in order for them to have a long and happy marriage. It is also said to help ward off evil spirits from harming their life together.

What's your favorite wedding movie and why?
When Harry Met Sally because I’m a romantic and I believe in finding your soulmate. It also has some of the best one-liners, like, "I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."
When you're not working, what kind of music do you listen to?
I listen to everything from indie (Local Natives) to EDM (Skrillex, Odesza) to folk rock (Bon Iver, Neil Young, Mumford & Sons) to rock (The Police).
We are thrilled—no, honored—to have Jenn on our team. With her wedding expertise and customer service skills, she helps to make the DJ selection process a breeze. Couples can breathe easy. This is one part of the planning process that won’t be a headache.
