Meet “DJ Patron”, a name that translates to “DJ BOSS” in Spanish, a title that many still affectionately use. Born in Washington, DC, and raised in Montgomery County, MD, Carlos carries the vibrant heritage of his Central American parents with pride. He graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring and has since carved out a remarkable career as a DJ and licensed electrician.

With over 20 years in the music industry, Carlos’s journey began in the bustling Latin club scene as an opening DJ. His skill and dedication quickly earned him residencies at various venues and opportunities to open for renowned artists such as Prince Royce, Don Chezina, and Sir Speedy. Through these experiences, he discovered the transformative power of music—the ability to uplift and shift people’s moods with a great beat. His mission has always been to be the person who can make that positive change happen.

Carlos’s musical education was shaped by the mentorship of friends and colleagues who taught him the intricacies of blending, beat matching, and BPMs. For him, being a great DJ involves seamless transitions between songs and genres, knowing when to play specific tracks, and having an intuitive understanding of the crowd.

Outside of his DJ career, Carlos enjoys dancing and unwinding on the beach. He is also a dedicated single father to three beautiful daughters, who are a constant source of joy in his life. His musical tastes are diverse, ranging from country to rock, though bachata remains his favorite genre.

One of Carlos’s favorite aspects of his work is performing at weddings. He finds great fulfillment in creating memorable experiences for newlyweds. A particularly unique processional song he’s played is Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust,” while he finds the Cha Cha Slide to be the most overplayed wedding song.

Whether you’re seeking an energetic DJ for an event or someone to craft the perfect ambiance, Carlos is ready to turn your musical vision into reality and ensure your event is unforgettable.

We had the chance to ask Carlos a few more personal questions about himself and some special wedding moments:

What’s your favorite local wedding venue and why?

"Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. Staff is great and super friendly and loading and unloading at this venue is super easy!"

If you were getting married this weekend, what would your first dance song be?

"Speechless” by Dan & Shay"

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen at a wedding?

"During intros, the groomsmen all out with REAL firearms in their hands. (This was actually pretty scary for me) and then during the sendoff they discharged the weapons into the air. It was wild!"

What’s the best “little kid moment” you’ve seen at a wedding?

"The groom's son walked up to him as he was trying to remove the garter and asked, “what was he looking for” (photographer got an amazing picture of the son’s facial expression). "

What’s one thing you wish people knew about working as a DJ?

"There is so much more than just playing music. It’s planning, preparing, and executing."
